LHS CHORALE

Prerequisite: Audition/Teacher permission    

Credit: 1                    Grades: 8-12                 Fee: $11

COURSE DESCRIPTION:  The LHS Chorale is an auditioned vocal ensemble opportunity for Lake High School students.  Instruction includes music theory, music history, advanced vocal techniques, advanced sight singing, performance decorum, and advanced ensemble performance techniques.  Styles ranging from Renaissance to the present are covered.  The ensemble has several mandatory performances throughout  the school year, including community and school concerts, festivals, and adjudicated events.  Enrollment is by instructor audition and/or instructor permission and includes the district’s finest student musicians.  Attendance at performances is mandatory. This course satisfies the district Fine Arts requirement.

HONORS LHS CHORALE

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Students in the Honors section are required to complete a thorough application/audition for OMEA's District 1 Honors Ensemble and prepare a solo for OMEA's District 1 Solo and Ensemble. Students are not required to be accepted to OMEA's District 1 Honors Ensemble to receive the honors credit.

TREBLE CHOIR 

Prerequisite: Open Enroll/Teacher permission

COURSE DESCRIPTION:  The TREBLE CHOIR is a vocal ensemble for young students with soprano, alto, contralto and changing voice ranges that naturally fall in a higher register.   Instruction includes music theory, music history, sight singing, performance decorum, and ensemble performance techniques.  Special emphasis will be placed on the growing and changing young adult voice.  The ensemble has mandatory performances during the school year, including community and school concerts and other performances as they arise.  No audition is required.  Again, Attendance at performances is mandatory. This course satisfies the district Fine Arts requirement.

This course satisfies the district Fine Arts requirement.

MIDDLE SCHOOL CHOIR

Prerequisite: Open Enroll/Teacher permission    

Credit: 1                    Grades: 6-7                Fee: $11

This course provides a means of artistic expression and progressive development for the student who enjoys singing and vocal music.  Students will study and perform a varied selection of choral music repertoire and will perform at concerts and competitions.  Students further their vocal music knowledge. Students scaffold their ability to read music and express themselves through vocal music. Students study and perform a varied selection of instrumental music repertoire and perform at concerts and potential competitions. Attendance at performances is mandatory.

5th GRADE CHOIR

Prerequisite: Open Enroll/Teacher permission    

Credit: 1                    Grades: 6-7                Fee: $11

This course provides a means of artistic expression and progressive development for the student who enjoys vocal music.  Students learn the basics of vocal music during this class. Students learn to read music and express themselves through vocal music. Students study and perform a varied selection of instrumental music repertoire and perform at concerts and competitions.  Attendance at performances is mandatory.
