The Lake Local School District provides a Title I intervention program to struggling students in first and second grades in the areas of math and reading. The purpose of this program is to provide students with an opportunity to close educational achievement gaps early in their academic career.
In order to properly utilize the Title I funds, Lake Local Schools have specific responsibilities. Examples of these responsibilities include:
Developing and implementing plans to support students to improve academically;
Reporting student achievement and other data;
Notifying parents about issues such as reading levels for comprehension and fluency and math levels for calculation and problem solving;
Collaborating with families and community members to increase engage in the learning process at home and outside of school;
Collaborating with child welfare agencies to ensure the educational stability of children in foster care;
Providing services to homeless students that do not attend Title I schools;
Providing services to children in local institutions for neglected children and, if appropriate, to children in local institutions for delinquent children and neglected or delinquent children in community day programs;
Allocating Title I funds to eligible schools through a poverty-based procedure known as “ranking and serving”;
Providing services to eligible private school students.
